Events
As a young leader in the making, Isata has been asked to host, volunteer, and work with some of the greatest foundation and organizations who pride themselves in giving back to their community.
All Things ankara
Nikki Billie Jean has created huge staple in the fashion industry, starting with her Ankara print Bowties. Through the years, that has grown to what is now a widely popular and well knows blog site and Instagram page called 'All Things Ankara'. Catching the attention of 62k people and even Jidenna. So when she asked me to help be apart of her fashion week, to empower the African teens and young adults to be proud of their heritage and vibrant colored print clothing, I couldn't resist. The fashion show highlighted local African seamstress and designers, and gave them a platform to showcase their work. Anything to promote the African culture to others in a positive way is very vital.
Africa gives back gala
Troy Massa is always ready to collaborate with other young African entrepreneur, which is so important in our community. With his new venture, The Africa Gives Back Gala, he has been able to change the stigma where Africans are always begging and never helping out. The gala picks a different area and country each year to focus on, whether it be educational, medical, etc and raises funds and awareness on the issue. After partnering with his organization, we were able to raise almost 1,000 books to donate on my behalf to Conakry Capitale Mondiale du livre 2017, in which I was recently appointed as one of the youth ambassadors.
HOPE OF GUINEE
Hope of Guinea has been raising awareness and funds to help underprivileged children of Guinea gain access to education, empower them and give them opportunities to succeed. Being from Guinee, its important I work with other organizations that are giving directly back to my homeland of Guinea, through the pageant and personal means. Partnering with Towson University again, I was honored to host the Hope of Guinee 6th annual fundraiser dinner. Rewarding and acknowledging some powerful forces and humanitarians from our country.
Art of Ramadan
Naimah Armstrong of Nfinite Productions LLC has been putting together events and programs like Youth Summits, basketball games, concerts, and open mics geared to those in the Muslim community for over 15 years. Partnered with the University of Baltimore's Muslim Students Association and Ama Designs they put together 'The ART of Ramadan'. The one-day exhibit showcased the Ramadan-inspired artwork of American Muslim visual artists during Baltimore's Artscape! With over 500 guest in attendance, it was an amazing feeling to be asked to be apart of such a huge event. Supporting our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters in the art world and exposing and promoting our true talents and brands to the masses. All while supporting small businesses is truly important.
Towson University
The African Diaspora Club of Towson University celebrates and positively portrays diverse cultures of Africa. The students encourage academic excellence, art, and promote networking opportunities in the community. Through food, fashion, dancing, and music by the students themselves, they aim to positively portray African Culture. With many of the students and performers being from the ages of 18 to 25, it is really amazing to join forces with such talented artist my own age. Also, I'm hoping to show them the other side of the creative art side by being a young entrepreneur their age, running my own successful business and giving back to the community. Its empowering to see others my age eager to make a difference in our own lives.
